I haven’t chatting with her in a while… but one thing she did that I thought was odd… I would quote Paul without referencing the verse… and it drove her crazy. Seems she wanted to look up the verse so’s she could argue with it.
But… somehow… it just seemed right to quote Paul without all the rigamarol (sp?) of giving chapter and verse. When you digest the evangel of our salvation… you really do see a completely different worldview.
And Paul’s teaching becomes foundational to your thinking… and the whole world looks better.
If you don’t do it this way… (“rightly divide” — “have a pattern of sound words” — “distinguish the things that differ”) you’re likely to run all over the place as you have no rules of thought.
