When I was a kid, my grandfather (a good “Christian”) use to sit me on his knee and tell me stories from the bible.
I remember clearly him telling me that “Solomon was the smartest man in the bible.”
Then on another occasion, he told me “Adam was the smartest man in the bible, because he named all the animals”
He took me to church all the time. I heard all the sermons for years.
But one thing HE NEVER TOLD ME —
And one thing NONE OF THE PREACHERS EVER TOLD ME—
was that CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS AND THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING.
My point is this: Christianity does not really believe much in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
They just group all the stories from the bible together — one weird event after another.
The creation of Adam.
The crossing of the Red Sea.
Daniel in the lions den.
Everyone speaking in tongues.
Angels showing up to do something special.
The wild stories of the Book of Revelation.
Many, many, stories.
But… truthfully they DID NOT spend anytime on the death and resurrection and what it accomplished… what it means… and how it effects every human on Earth.
One must assume that Christ death and resurrection is just one more story.
But I’m here to tell you… You are saved by God’s work in Christ’s cross.
My reference is Romans 4:25
“He was given up because of our offenses, and was roused because of our justifying.”
Read the verse again.
Why did God raise Christ from the dead — because we are now justified — because Christ died to accomplished this event.
Are you saved? YES.
Want proof? Christ rose from the dead — as proof of your justification.
Typically “christianity” tells you that in order to be saved, you must do this and that and the other thing.
Repent, believe, obey, humble yourself, pray, etc.
However, think about this… if you could be saved by repenting, believing, obeying, etc… you don’t need the cross of Christ.
You could have repented, believed, etc… BEFORE His death.
So what did Christ accomplished on the cross?
They infer he accomplished nothing, really.
I’m telling you, you were saved by His death and resurrection and there is nothing you can add to it… to make it better.
… and nothing you can do to diminish it.
You can’t give God a bad hair day.
God saved you on Christ’s cross.
My grandfather and all the typical Christians I’ve met… and once was… don’t believe this.
I believe it. And believing it makes me appreciate God’s work in Christ’s cross.
But I was actually saved by His death long before I believed I was.
I WAS SAVED WHEN CHRIST ROSE FROM THE DEAD.
ROMANS 4:25: “He was given up because of our offenses, and was roused because of our justifying.”
THIS IS GOOD NEWS.
THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING.
