“CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR”… NOT EVEN CLOSE:
WHAT I SAID TO MY ONLY FUNDAMENTALIST FLOTE CONNECTION:
DEAR CHRISTIAN OUTREACH DUDE…
Just thinking out loud here…
You quoted Romans 6:1-2..in order to attack me.
Romans 6
1: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2: God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Listen, I’ve heard more than 4,000 sermons in evangelical churches…
…and I’ve never once heard a preacher even come close to teaching something to where he’d be accused of saying “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?”
Hell no…. they don’t get close to that one at all. NO ONE, but no one, would ever accuse them of anything near saying “shall we sin that grace may abound?”
But Paul came close… so close that he had to defend his teaching….saying “God forbid!”
It seems to me, that if we want to teach like Paul… someone somewhere ought to accuse of us saying, “That dude is saying the we should sin so that grace may abound… LET’S GET HIM.”
But no. We don’t get anywhere near grace.
Too risky.
Grace to you.
Ace.
